Ni hao! Welcome to my site. My name is Ling Ming Hou. I am a Mandarin instructor based in San Francisco, California. I feel truly blessed to have found something I feel passionate about, and that is teaching Mandarin to English speakers.

My first student was a friend of mine who I met in Beijing. She was a graduate school student from Italy majoring in Chinese in Beijing. That was year 2001.

Coming from a family of teachers, enjoying working with my students and helping them grow seems to be ingrained in my DNA. I can’t find anything more gratifying than to convince people that Mandarin is NOT a language that is unapproachable and dreary.

As the owner of Ling Ming Mandarin, I believe that learning a language should be fun, easy and inspiring. It is one of the most beautiful languages in the world with fascinating culture embedded into every character. I love for all my students to share this with me.
